I’ve had a long and successful career in nursing and am known for my commitment and work in quality and patient centered care systems. However system improvements seem to always be about the patient rather than with the patient. Until our healthcare system is in partnership with patients we will always have an imbalance in decision-making. Now, I have the opportunity to become involved in the American Patient Rights Association, where a patient is represented as a consumer of healthcare.
If I can do anything to contribute to an error-free empowered medical stay, it would be to partner with patients from the bedside to the boardroom.
